Frequently Asked Questions

How much money will reach projects?

OSHAID International is committed to spending more than 80% of all donations directly on development programs. The remaining 20% is used to administer projects, communicate with sponsors and provide emergency support funds for urgent projects.

How does OSHAID ensure that these projects and services are delivered properly?

To ensure that these projects and services are delivered in a way that is professional and accountable OSHAID also commits funds from the 80% to: Program Support (where necessary): e.g. Management and technical support of projects (this may come from a Country Office or External consultants; transportation for visiting projects; computers systems for tracking project results.

Field Management & Administration: e.g. Rent of offices; office equipment and supplies; accounting staff and systems; audit staff and services; secretarial;; telephone and fax costs; couriers; staff training.

How is the amount spent on each project determined?

OSHAID aims to ensure that all projects benefit equitably. This does not mean however that the money spent is necessarily uniformly distributed. This approach would ignore obvious field realities including:

-Projects in a start up or phase down period spend less than during the height of operations

-Projects are going to be in different phases over time

-One dollar will buy more in one country than in another and the value of a dollar varies enormously even over a year in some Field countries

OSHAID’s objective is to approach these realities in a sensible and efficient way to ensure that over time each community where OSHAID works and each project within those communities benefits in a way that is equitable.

How do I know what you say is true in terms of finances?

OSHAID International's accounts will aim to be some of the most detailed and transparent in the overseas aid sector. Annual reports will be produced an audited by an accredited third party organisation. OSHAID will seek to subscribe to a Code of Conduct for Aid related agencies. Integrity and accountability will be two cornerstones for the work of OSHAID International.
